1908-1915 Diary of Ella Rogers

Ella Rogers started her first diary when she was eight years old with four short entries for the year 1908. In 1912, Rogers resumed her diary writing with a handful of more detailed entries. It was not until fall of 1914, however, that the war prompted more regular records with accounts of wartime fundraisers and local recruitment efforts in her community. In 1915, Rogers and her family received news that her uncle Donald Mackenzie Moore had been wounded in battle. What the family does not yet know is that Moore would succumb to his injuries shortly thereafter on 22 May 1915.
